Many patients require repeated supplies of medication in order to maintain their wellbeing.

In order to ensure that your repeat prescription will be ready for you when you come to the practice to collect it, please place your order at least one working day in advance.  Some medications have to be ordered specially from other suppliers and may take longer – your vet will advise if this is the case.

We follow the British Veterinary Association Code Of Practice On Medicines (2000) which states that once stock has been dispensed, it should not be accepted back into the dispensary.  This means that once you have collected any medicine and taken it away from our premises, we cannot provide refunds for any medication returned to the practice.  We can safely dispose of any unwanted medication at your request.

Please Note:
If your pet is on long term medication then we will need to re-examine them at regular intervals. For most stable conditions, this will be every six months but some conditions or medications may require more frequent monitoring.

In some cases, additional procedures such as blood tests may be recommended. This is to ensure that the treatment they are receiving is still suitable and being given at an appropriate dose for their condition.
There will be a charge for this re-examination.

Written prescriptions

Written prescriptions are also available from this practice.

You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V) from your veterinary surgeon or obtain these from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy. Unfortunately we cannot price match online pharmacies but we acknowledge that it may be far more cost effective for you to purchase your pets medication online, please ask the vet or receptionist if you would like to discuss a written prescription.

The current charge for a written prescription is £19.00, with £14.50 per additional item.*

Please be aware that your veterinary surgeon may only provide POM-V medicines for animals under their care and that a prescription may not be appropriate if an animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.

You will be informed on request of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal.

Any fraudulent prescription claims will be reported to the Veterinary Medicines Directive and our services will be withdrawn.
